"The myhti God, which unbegunne

Stant of Himself and hath begunne

Alle othre thinges at His wille,

The hevene Him liste to fulfille

Of alle joie, where as He

Sit inthronized in His see,

And hath Hise angles Him to serve,

Suche as Him liketh to preserve,

So that thei mowe noght forsueie:

Bot Lucifer He putte aweie,

With al the route apostazied

Of hem that ben to him allied,

Whiche out of hevene into the helle

From angles into fendes felle;

Wher that ther is no joie of lyht,

Bot more derk than eny nyht

The peine schal ben endeles;

And yit of fyres natheles

Ther is plenté, bot thei ben blake,

Wherof no syhte mai be take.

“The mighty God, from the beginning

Stands alone, and has begun

All other things at his will,

The heaven his lists to fulfill

Of all joy, where as he

Sits in his throne in his seat,

And has his Angels to serve him,

Such as he likes to preserve,

So that they would not stray,

But Lucifer he put away

With all who abandoned god

With of them who allied with him,

Which out of heaven into hell

From angels into fiends fell;

Where there is no joy of light,

But more dark than any night

The pain shall be endless;

And yet of notwithstanding

There is plenty, but they been pale,

Of no sight may be taken.

“The mighty God, in the beginning

Stands alone, and creating

All other things at his will,

The heaven his lists to fulfill

Of all joy, where as he

Sits in his throne in his Holy See,

And has his Angels to serve,

Such as he likes to preserve,

So that they would not stray,

But Lucifer he put away

With all who abandoned god

With of them who he led,

Which out of heaven into hell

From angels into fiends fell;

Where there is no joy of light,

But more dark than any night

The pain shall be endless;

And yet nonetheless

There is plenty, but they been pale,

Of no sight may avail.
